Welcome to the first site in South Africa dedicated entirely to a Bass Fishing Club, our exploits, triumphs and perhaps some of our failures. Clearwater Bassmasters was formed in 1994; right from the start the most important part of Clearwater's operating philosophy was to ensure that certain issues would not cloud the primary objectives of the club as a whole. The primary issue was finances, it was resolved very early in the Clubs existence that all fees would be kept to an absolute minimum, thereby ensuring that no time and effort would be wasted discussing how best we could spend accumulated funds, as opposed to discussing where, when, and how we arrange the next fishing outing. Today this holds true, we have money for an excellent prize giving each year, but to get there we must first fish, fish and then fish again. The second important issue to us was to actively promote the sharing of knowledge, expertise and experiences, while at the same time insuring the highest standards of integrity. New members are actively helped when it comes to rods, reels, lures, boats and every aspect of bass fishing, we may however sometimes reply when asked where we caught our fish, "In the mouth." All of these philosophies are bound together with a very strong commitment to the preservation of Bass Fishing and the species as a whole in S.A. and this shows in Clearwater being the first club to have members sign a declaration that they will at all times practice catch and release for all Bass caught. We are a band of brotherhood and some mighty good bass fishing sisterhood that meet in the South of Johannesburg on the first Wednesday of each month to decide on important matters such as the venue of our next competition but generally we talk more about Bass and everyone tells amazing tales of what has happened to them since we last met. We are a social club that fishes an “in-house” once a month where the competition is fierce for the top three spots and a trophy at our annual prize giving, more importantly it is where we talk around camp fires and tell more amazing tales of battles won and lost. Through the club we endeavor to all learn new skills and through competition and camaraderie learn more about Bass and how to catch them.
